Country singer Jimmie Allen & Alexis Gale keep things small-but-stylish with romantic microwedding

Country music star Jimmie Allen married fiancée Alexis Gale last Thursday in an intimate, mid-week ceremony that was everything a (post)pandemic wedding can be.

Joined by only their closest friends and family, the couple decided to forgo a big bash in favor of the heartfelt, intimate ceremony. Fellow musicians Darius Rucker, Chuck Wicks, and Tyler Rich were on the guest list, and several short videos of the stylish celebration were shared live on social media.

Jimmie and Alexis’s decision to keep things small-but-stylish reflects a growing trend toward ceremony-focused weddings following a year of COVID-19 restrictions. Many couples -- from other celebrities to ordinary folks -- are thinking outside the box, choosing smaller guest lists and personalized experiences, as well as midweek / weekday bookings, evening celebrations, custom vows and ceremonies, asking friends and family to officiate, and planning hybrid formats that include a larger audience joining virtually.

This flexibility gives couples a chance to celebrate with all the romance, glamour, and joy of a larger gathering, without the risk or wait. In most cases, microweddings are better on the budget, too.

The sweethearts were introduced to each other by a family member in 2019 and were engaged within months. They’d originally planned to wed in 2020, but like many couples, their plans were quickly put on hold by the pandemic.

The gorgeous celebrity wedding was held at The Lake House Inn, a lavish venue located an hour outside of Philadelphia, in Perkasie, Pennsylvania (Bucks County). The large waterfront venue is surrounded by 6,000 acres of state park and offers indoor and outdoor options for weddings, cocktail hours, and receptions.

Pennsylvania loosened their restrictions on indoor gatherings, including weddings, in early May, raising capacity to 50% indoors and 75% outdoors, making it easier for couples like Allen and Gale to plan their events.

On June 1st, 2021, Pennsylvania returned to pre-pandemic guidelines, dropping all COVID-19 restrictions except for the mask mandate (which is expected to be lifted by June 28th, or when 70% of the state’s adults are vaccinated). This means that all businesses, events, and venues can now return to full capacity.
